2015年考研英语句子翻译精练（五）

　考研英语翻译最重要的是把握句子机构，直击重点翻译。把也就是说把句子的结构划分清楚，然后重难点翻译捋清，整个句子就可以通顺的翻译出来，再加以渲染和润色即可。新东方在线小编奉上一些句子翻译练习，附有解说，希望广大考生能够通过这些例子提高自身翻译技巧

　　2015年考研英语翻译精练（五）

　　1、A bad liar usually gives himself away by looking too long at his victim, in the mistaken belief that to "look a man straight in the eye" is a sign of honest dealing.

　　参考答案:

　　要点：这是带有同位语从句的复合句。主句中动名词短语looking too long at his victim做介词by的宾语。by 在这里表示方法、手段。victim本义是受害者，在这里指听谎话的人。that 引导同位语从句，解释说明belief。翻译时采用顺序法和添词法。

　　译文：拙劣的说谎者暴露自己的原因常常是因为长时间的盯着看听他说谎的人，误以为直视一个人的眼睛是诚实的表现。

　　2、he common belief of some linguists that each language is a perfect vehicle for the thoughts of the nation speaking it is in some ways the exact counterpart of the conviction of the Manchester school of economics that supply and demand will regulate everything for the best.

　　参考答案:

　　要点：此句的主要框架是"The common belief of some linguists...is...the exact counterpart of the conviction of the Manchester school of economics ..."。"that each language...speaking it是同位语从句，做belief的同位语，"speaking it"是现在分词短语做定语，修饰"nation"。"that supply and demand...for the best"是同位语从句，做"conviction"的同位语。

　　译文：一些语言学家的共同见解是，每一种语言都是使用该语言的民族的用以表达思想的完美载体。这一观点在某些方面与曼彻斯特经济学派的观点，即供给与需求会将一切调节至尽善尽美，有异曲同工之妙。

　　3、The first type of computer standard settings, a highly informal process,occurs when a product or philosophy is developed by a single company and, through success and imitation, becomes so widely used that deviation from the norm causes compatibility problems and limits marketability.

　　参考答案:

　　要点：a highly informal process是The first type ...的同位语。occurs和becomes是并列的两个谓语动词。when引导时间状语从句，through success and imitation是介词短语做状语，修饰becomes。that引导结果状语从句。causes和limits是结果状语从句中两个并列的谓语动词。

　　译文：计算机标准设置的第一种类型作为一种十分不正式的工艺流程出现在个别公司生产某种产品或形成某种理念的时候。由于它的成功和被模仿，其标准得到了广泛的应用，结果任何背离该标准的行为都会造成兼容性方面的问题，影响其市场销售量。

　　4、The second aspect is the application by all members of society, from the government official to the ordinary citizens, of the special methods of thought and action that scientists use in their work.

　　参考答案:

　　要点：这是一个典型的分割结构。该句的主干结构是“The second aspect is the application...of the special methods of thought and action” ，application和修饰它的介词短语被一个长长的by短语分隔了。application是一个表示行为的名词，by all...citizens修饰application，翻译时把application译成动词，by短语译成主语。that scientists...work是special methods的定语从句。

　　译文：第二个方面是，社会上的一切成员，从政府部门中任公职的官员到普通公民，都应运用科学家们在科研工作中所采用的专门的思维方法和工作方法。

　　5、It is human, perhaps, to appreciate little that which we have and to long for that which we have not, but it is a great pity that in the world of light the gift of sight is used only as a mere convenience rather than as a means of adding fullness to life.

　　参考答案:

　　要点：该句是由连词but连接的两个并列分句。第一个分句的形式主语it代替两个动词不定式短语to appreciate little that...和to long for that...。little是副词。第二个分句的形式主语it代替that引导的从句that in the world of light the gift of sight is used...adding fullness to life。

　　译文：或许，不珍惜已拥有的东西而渴望未拥有的东西，凡人皆如此，但是非常遗憾的是，在这光明的世界里，上天赐予人们的视觉只被用作一种方便，而不被用作使生活更加完美的手段。
