2015年考研英语句子翻译精练（六）

　考研英语翻译最重要的是把握句子机构，直击重点翻译。把也就是说把句子的结构划分清楚，然后重难点翻译捋清，整个句子就可以通顺的翻译出来，再加以渲染和润色即可。新东方在线小编奉上一些句子翻译练习，附有解说，希望广大考生能够通过这些例子提高自身翻译技巧

　　2015年考研英语翻译精练（六）

　　1、The information contained herein is to the best of our knowledge accurate, but since the circumstances and conditions in which it may be used beyond our control we do not accept liability for any loss that may occur.

　　参考答案:

　　要点：这是个并列句，由but连接。contained herein是过去分词短语做定语，修饰information。to the best of our knowledge是介词短语做状语，accurate是表语。定语从句in which it may be used中的it指the information。that may occur 是loss 的定语从句。介词beyond表示否定的意思。

　　译文：就我们所知，本资料是准确可靠的。但是，由于我们不能规定可能的使用场合和条件，因此对使用本资料可能引起的任何损失，本公司概不负责。

　　2、Children who grow up in this world therefore experience it as a sameness rather than a diversity, and because their identities are shaped by this sameness, their sense of differences among cultures and individuals diminishes.

　　参考答案:

　　要点：这是个并列句，由because前的那个and连接两个句子，每个子句都是主从复合句。第一个子句的主干结构是“Children experience it as...rather than...”。第二个子句中的among cultures and individuals是differences的定语。此句可译成两个独立的句子。再者，翻译时最好把sameness和diversity这两个抽象词具体化。最后，are shaped by可按汉语习惯译成主动句。

　　译文：这个世界上的孩子体验的是相同的而不是多样化的世界。由于他们的个性是在相同的环境里形成的，因而他们对各种文化和个人的感受力被弱化了。

　　3、Applied science, on the other hand, is directly concerned with the application of the working laws of pure science to the practical affairs of life, and to increasing man's control over his environment, thus leading to the development of new techniques, processes and machines.

　　参考答案:

　　要点：with后的主干结构是 the application of...to...,意思是“把...应用到..."。thus后接-ing动词，形成现在分词短语，是表示结果的状语，修饰前面两个to。

　　译文：另一方面，应用科学的直接任务有二：如何把纯科学的定律在生活的各个方面加以应用，如何应用这些定律来增强人类对其外部环境的驾驭能力。这两个方面的必然结果是，新技术得到了开发，新工艺和新机器层出不穷。

　　4、New forms of thought as well as new subjects for thought must arise in the future as they have in the past, giving rise to new standards of elegance.

　　参考答案:

　　要点：这是个主从复合句。as they have(arisen)in the past是状语从句，as 的意思是“如同”。giving...elegance是一个现在分词短语，做主句谓语的伴随状语。give rise to 的意思是“引起，使发生”。翻译时首先应把as they have in the past分出来译成一个分句放在句首，然后采用逆序法翻译句子的主语和谓语，最后翻译现在分词短语。

　　译文：同过去一样，将来必然会出现新的思维对象和新的思维方式，从而给完美以新的标准。

　　5、Between 2 billion and 3 billion years ago, portions of the surface water, bathed by the energetic radiation from the sun, developed complicated compounds in organization sufficiently versatile to qualify as what we call "life".

　　参考答案:

　　要点：本句的主要结构是portions of the surface water developed complicated compounds。bathed...是过去分词短语，作定语，句法作用相当于一个非限制性定语从句。in organization...是介词短语作定语，修饰compounds。sufficiently versatile...是形容词短语作后置定语，修饰organization。to qualify as what we call "life"是动词不定式短语作状语，表示结果。 what we call "life"是宾语从句，作介词as的宾语。

　　译文：在20亿到30亿年前，地球表面的一部分水在太阳的强辐射作用下，导致了结构复杂的化合物的出现，这些化合物结构灵活多样，足以被我们称为“生命”。
