2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（4）

考研英语长难句是让很多考生头疼的一大难题，对于长难句的结构分析、主旨把握及语义提炼想到一步位并不容易，这需要大家熟练掌握语法的同时，平时多练习和总结才行。下面新东方在线就和大家一起通过实例练习及解析来一步步提升长难句的解读能力。

2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（4）

　　1、Probably there is not one here who has not in thecourse of the day had occasion to set in motion acomplex train of reasoning, of the very same kind,though differing in degree, as that which a scientificman goes through in tracing the causes of naturalphenomena.?

　　【分析】

　　句子主干为there is not one，who引导定语从句修饰限制one。定语从句的主干为who has not…had occasion to…;in the course of the day 为时间状语;toset in motion…为occasion的后置定语。介词短语of the very same kind修饰前面的动名词reasoning，固定搭配the same…as 中间插入了让步状语成分though differing in degree。句末 that 指代 a complextrain of reasoning，后跟which引导的定语从句，修饰that。翻译时，who引导的定语从句可译为独立的句子。同时注 意，as that…中的as可译为汉语的“同，与”，that需明确化，后面which引导的定语从句可译作前置定语;of the very same kind 和 though differing in degree 可译作汉语的谓语部分。

　　2、set in motion“开始发生，发动”。2、reasoning原意为“推理，推论，论据，理由”，本句结合语境译作 “思考活动”。

　　【译文】

　　大概这里不会有人一整天都没有机会进行一连串的思考活动，这些思考活动与科学家在探索自然现象的原因时所经历的思考活动在复杂程度上虽然不同，但性质上却是完全相同的。

　　3、You have all heard it repeated that men of sciencework by means of induction (归纳法)and deduction,that by the help of these operations, they, in a sortof sense, manage to extract from Nature certainnatural laws, and that out of these, by some specialskill of their own, they build up their theories.

　　【分析】

　　复合句。句子主干为You have all heard it repeatedthat…，that…，and that… ，it为形式宾语，真正的宾语是三个并列的that从句。第一个从句中，bymeans of induction and deduction为方式状语，翻译时，应置于谓语动调之前。第二个从句的主干为they…manage to?extract…certain natural laws，状语 in a sort of sense 可译于从句句首，状语bythe help of these operations译于主谓之间，from Nature译于动词extract之前。第三个从句采取顺译法，they指代上一句的certain natural laws，需明确。

　　【点拨】

　　1、extract from “从…中提取”。2、 build up“逐步建立;增进，增强;积累”。

　　【译文】

　　我们都多次听说过，科学家是用归纳法和演绎法工作的，而且从某种意义上说来，他们依靠这种方法力求从自然界归纳某些自然规律，然后根据这些规律和自己的某种非同一般的本领，建立起他们的理论。

　　4、And it is imagined by many that the operations of the common mind can be by no meanscompared with these processes, and that they have to be acquired by a sort of special training.

　　【分析】

　　复合句。句子主干为it is imagined that…and that…，it为形式主语，真正的主语是两个并列的that 从句。主句为被动语态，翻译时可转换为汉语的主动语态，译为“许多人设想…”。第—从句中，these processes指“科学的思维过程”，需译出。第二个从句中，they 指代前一从句中的these processes，翻译时需明确;by a sort of special training为介词结构作状语，前置译。

　　【点拨】

　　by no means“决不，一点也不，根本不能”。

　　【译文】

　　许多人设想，普通人的思维活动根本无法与科学的思维过程相比，认为这些思维过程必须经过某些专门训练才能掌握。
