2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（8）

考研英语长难句是让很多考生头疼的一大难题，对于长难句的结构分析、主旨把握及语义提炼想到一步位并不容易，这需要大家熟练掌握语法的同时，平时多练习和总结才行。下面新东方在线就和大家一起通过实例练习及解析来一步步提升长难句的解读能力。

2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（8）

　　1、The target is wrong, for in attacking the tests,critics divert attention from the fault that lies with illinformed or incompetent users.

　　【分析】

　　多重复合句。句子的主干为The target is wrong。 for引导原因状语从句，嵌套that引导的定语从句，修饰 fault。target指代前文的标准化测试，翻译时需明确。先行词thefault和其定语从句可译为独立的句子“弊病来自”，其中名词结构 ill informed or incompetent users 可转译为动词结构，同时增补词语“对测试”，使译文更流畅。

　　【点拨】

　　1、divert attention from“把注意力从…转移”，可直接译为“不考虑”。2、informed“消息灵通的;了解情况的;有学问的”，ill informed译为“了解不详的”。

　　【译文】

　　把标准化测试作为抨击目标是错误的，因为在抨击这类测试时，批评者不考虑其弊病来自人们对测试不甚了解或使用不当。

　　2、How well the predictions will be validated by later performance depends upon the amount,reliability, and appropriateness of the information used and on the skill and wisdom withwhich it is interpreted.

　　【分析】

　　复合句。How…performance是一个从句，在整句中作主语。句子谓语是depends upon…and on…，宾 语是 the amount, reliability, and appropriateness of the information 和 the skill andwisdom。used 是 information 的后置定语，前置译。with which it is interpreted 是个定语从句，修饰前面的skill and wisdom，由于较短，前置译。

　　【点拨】

　　How well表程度，翻译时可译为“在多大程度上”，不能译为“怎样好地”。

　　【译文】

　　这些预测在多大程度上为后来的表现所证实，这取决于所采用信息的数量、可靠性和适宜性，以及解释这些信息的技能和才智。

　　3、New forms of thought as well as new subjects forthought must arise in the future as they have in thepast, giving rise to new standards of elegance.

　　【分析】

　　复合句。句子主干为New forms of thought as well asnew subjects for thought must arise;as 引导方式状语从句，是as they have arisen in the past的省略形式;giving rise to new standards of elegance 为现在分词结构作伴随状语。翻译时，as从句可置于主句之前，译为“同过去一样”。They have省略不译。翻译主句时，可按照汉语的表达习惯，调整语序，译为“将来必然会出现 …”。伴随状语可译为与主句并列的句子。

　　【点拨】

　　1、句中must是“必然”的意思，不能译为“必须”。2、give rise to“引起，导致，使产生”。

　　【译文】

　　同过去一样，将来必然会出现新的思维方式和新的思维对象，给完美以新的标准。
