2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（31）

2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（31）

　　1、Not surprisingly, newly published discovery claims and credible discoveries that appear to be important and convincing will always be open to challenge and potential modification or refutation by future researchers.

　　【分析】复合句。句子主干为 claims and...discoveries...will...be open...。not surprisingly 作状语。that 引导定语从句，修饰 discoveries。

　　【译文】新发表的那些发现声明，以及看似重要且有说服力的可信发现总是会受到后来研究者的挑战，并可能被修改或驳斥，这不足为奇。

　　【点拨】1)convincing“令人信服的”。2)potential “潜在的，有可能的”。2)refutation“驳斥”。

　　2. In the end, credibility "happens" to a discovery claim—a process that corresponds to what philosopher Annette Baier has described as the commons of the mind.

　　【分析】复合句。破折号后的内容为同位语，解释说明 claim。that 引导定语从句，修饰 process，其中包含 what 引导的宾语从句，作 to 的宾语。

　　【译文】最后，一项发现申明“碰巧”具有可信性——这个过程符合哲学家 所描述的“英雄所见略同”。

　　【点拨】correspond“相符合，相一致”，常与 to 连用。

　　【临摹】这些存货与我订单上所列的货物不同。

　　These goods do not correspond to the list ofthose I ordered.

　　3. In 2009 the number of unionists in America'spublic sector passed that of their fellow members inthe private sector.

　　【分析】简单句。本句中 that 指代 the number。

　　【译文】2009年，美国公共部门里的工会成员数量超过了私营部门。

　　【点拨】pass 在本句中的意思是“超过，大于”。

　　26. Politicians have repeatedly "backloaded" public-sector pay deals, keeping the pay increasesmodest but adding to holidays and especially pensions that are already generous.

　　【分析】复合句。句子主干为 Politicians have..."backloaded" ...deals...。keeping modest...和 addingto...generous 为现在分词短语作伴随状语，由 but 连接构成转折关系。后一个现在分词短语中，that 引导定语从句，修饰 pensions。

　　【译文】政治家们一再“支持提高”公共部门的工资待遇，虽然压低加薪幅度，却延长了假期，尤其是增加已经很丰厚的养老金。

　　【点拨】1)modest“适度的”。2)generous“丰厚的”。
