2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（40）

2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（40）

　　1. The key to reforming higher education,concludes Mr. Menand, is to alter the way inwhich "the producers of knowledge areproduced."

　　【分析】复合句。句子主干为 The key...is to alter theway...。concludes Mr. Menand 是插入语。第一个 to 是介词，第二个 to 是不定式符号。不定式短语充当表语，其中含有 which 引导的定语从句修饰 the way。

　　【译文】莫南德先生总结道，改革高等教育的关键在于改变“培养知识分子”的方式。

　　2. Otherwise, academics will continue to think dangerously alike, increasinglydetached from the societies which they study, investigate and criticize.

　　【分析】复合句。句子主干为 academics will continue to think...。形容词短语 increasingly detachedfrom the societies 作结果状语，其中 which 引导的定语从句修饰 the societies。

　　【译文】否则，学者们还会继续这样危险地思考下去，愈加脱离他们所研究、调查和批评的社会。

　　【点拨】detached “分离的，远离的，脱离的;超然的，公正的”。

　　3. The subtle and intelligent little book TheMarketplace of Ideas: Reform and Resistance inthe American University should be read by everystudent thinking of applying to take a doctoraldegree.

　　【分析】简单句。斜体部分作 The...little book 的同位语，现在分词短语 thinking of applying to take a doctoraldegree 作 every student 的后置定语。

　　【译文】每一个考虑申请博士学位的学生都应该读读这本构思巧妙、充满智慧的小书：《思想的市场：美国大学里的改革和抗拒》。

　　【点拨】1) subtle“微妙的，难以捉摸的，细微的;狡猾的，狡诈的;敏感的，敏锐的，有辨别力的”，本句中显然是“微妙的，巧妙的”之意。2) doctoral degree“博士学位”。

　　4. Of all the changes that have taken place in English-language newspapers during thepast quarter-century, perhaps the most far-reaching has been the inexorable decline inthe scope and seriousness of their arts coverage.

　　【分析】复合句。句子主干为 the most far-reaching has been the inexorable decline...。其中 themost far-reaching 后面省略了 change。in the scope 作 decline 的后置定语。句首的 that 引导的定语从句修饰 changes。

　　【译文】过去二十五年，在英文报纸发生的所有变化中，影响最为深远的或许是文艺类报道的内容广度在缩小，严肃性在减弱，而且这一势头不可阻挡。

　　【点拨】inexorable“不能变更的，不可阻挡的;无情的，无动于衷的”，本句中意为“不可阻挡的”，表程度之强烈。
