2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（56）

考研英语长难句是让很多考生头疼的一大难题，对于长难句的结构分析、主旨把握及语义提炼想到一步位并不容易，这需要大家熟练掌握语法的同时，平时多练习和总结才行。下面新东方在线就和大家一起通过实例练习及解析来一步步提升长难句的解读能力。

2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（56）

　　1. Studies of both animals and humans have shown that sex hormones somehow affect the stress response, causing females under stress to produce more of the trigger chemicals than do males under the same conditions.

　　【分析】多重复合句。主句主干为 Studies have shown that...。that 引导宾语从句，其主干为 sex hormones somehow affect the stress response。现在分词结构 causing females...作结构状语，为避免头重脚轻，比较结构 more...than 引导的状语从句用了倒装语序，正常语序为：...than males under the same conditions do，其中 do 替代前面的 produce。

　　【译文】对动物和人类的研究表明：性激素会以某种方式影响对压力的反应，使处于压力下的雄性比处于相同条件下的雄性产生更多的触发不良反应的化学物质。

　　2. Adding to a woman's increased dose of stress chemicals, are her increased "opportunity" for stress.

　　【分析】简单句。本句是一个典型的完全倒装句。其正常语序为 Her increased "opportunity" for stress are adding to a woman's increased dose of stress chemicals。

　　【译文】女性承受压力的“机会”增多，使得产生压力的化学物质也随之增加。

　　【点拨】add to 意为“增加”，在本句中尤指 to make a feeling or quality stronger or more noticeable“使(某种感觉或特质)更强烈或更明显”。

　　【临摹】我们的解释似乎只是增加了他的困惑。

　　3. “Their capacity for tolerating stress may even begreater than men's,” she observed, "It's just thatthey're dealing with so many more things that theybecome worn out from it more visibly and sooner."

　　【分析】并列复合句。引号中的两个句子可视为两个并列的分句，she observes 为插入语。在第二个分句中，第一个that 引导表语从句，it's just that 相当于 it's justbecause;第二个 that 引导结果状语从句。

　　【译文】胡叶达医生说：“她们承受压力的能力甚至可能比男性更强。但只是因为她们要处理的事情太多以至于疲劳得更快更明显。”

　　【点拨】observe 常见的意思为“观察;注意到”;同时，它还有“遵守”的意思，如 observe the rules。在本句中，observe 意为“说，评论”。

　　4. I think that the kinds of things that women are exposed to tend to be in more of chronicor repeated nature.

　　【分析】多重复合句。第一个 that 引导宾语从句，其中包含 that 引导的定语从句，定语从句修饰 things。

　　【译文】我认为女性所必须面临的压力一般都具有长期性和反复性特征。

　　【点拨】nature 在本句中意为“特征，特点”。in a...nature 意为“具有...的特征”。
