2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（67）

考研英语长难句是让很多考生头疼的一大难题，对于长难句的结构分析、主旨把握及语义提炼想到一步位并不容易，这需要大家熟练掌握语法的同时，平时多练习和总结才行。下面新东方在线就和大家一起通过实例练习及解析来一步步提升长难句的解读能力。

2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（67）

　　1. Even demographics are working against themiddle-class family, as the odds of having a weakelderly parent—and all the attendant need forphysical and financial assistance—have jumpedeightfold in just one generation.

　　【分析】复合句。主句主干为 demographics are workingagainst the middle-class family。as 引导原因状语从句，其主干为 the odds have jumped eightfold;破折号之间的部分起补充说明的作用。

　　【译文】甚至连人口统计数据都对中产阶级家庭不利，因为这些家庭中出现一个年老体弱当父亲或母亲——以及随之而来的体力和经济援助上的需要——的机率在一代人的时间里增加了八倍。

　　【点拨】odds 意为“成败的几率或可能;几率;差别”。

　　2. From the middle-class family perspective, much of this understandably, looks far less likean opportunity to exercise more financial responsibility, and a good deal more like afrightening acceleration of the wholesale shift of financial risk onto their alreadyoverburdened shoulders.

　　【分析】简单句。本句虽是简单句，但修饰成分较多，句子主干是 much of this looks far less like anopportunity and more like a frightening acceleration。不定式结构 to exercise...responsibility作定语修饰 opportunity;介词短语 of the wholesale...修饰 acceleration。

　　【译文】可以理解，从中产阶级家庭的角度来看，上述现象根本不像是一个行使更多经济职责的机会;而更像是将经济风险大规模转移到他们已经不堪重负的肩膀上的加速进程。

　　【点拨】1) perspective 为名词，意思较多，如“远景，全景;观点;前途”，本句中意为“观点”。2)wholesale 可作名词、形容词、副词和动词，在本句中为形容词，意为“大规模的”。3) far less 意为“远不及”。4)a good deal (of) 意为“许多，大量”，多用来修饰不可数名词。

　　3. Just as bosses and boards have finally sorted outtheir worst accounting and compliance, andimproved their feeble corporation government, anew problem threatens to earn them—especially inAmerica—the sort of nasty headlines that lead torolling in the executive suite: data security.

　　【分析】复合句。主句主干为 a new problem threatensto earn them the sort of nasty headlines。其后 that引导定语从句修饰 headlines; data security 是 a newproblem 的同位语。句首 as 引导时间状语从句，该从句包含两个并列的谓语结构 have sorted out...andimproved...。

　　【译文】正当老板和董事会终于解决了最糟糕的财务和规章问题并加强其薄弱的公司管理之后，一个新的问题——数据不安全——又威胁到他们，使他们出现在令人厌恶的头版头条新闻中(尤其在美国)，进而不可避免地导致管理层们走马换任。

　　【点拨】1) sort 作名词时意为“种类;类型”，本句中，该词作动词，意为“分类，整理;使明确”。2)compliance 意为“顺从，遵从”，in compliance with 是其常用的表达形式，意为“按照...依从...”。

　　4. Left, until now, to odd, low-level IT staff to put right, and seen as a concern only of data-rich industries such as banking, telecoms and air travel, information protection is now highon the boss's agenda in businesses of very variety.

　　【分析】简单句。句子主干为 information protection is high on the boss's agenda。本句的难点在于对句首两个过去分词的理解二者均作句首状语。介词短语 of data-rich...air travel 作 concern 的后置定语。

　　【译文】在这之前，信息保护通常还只是临时的、低层次的信息技术员的工作，并且只被诸如银行、电信、航空公司等数据量大的行业重视，可现在这个问题被放在了各行各业老板的议事日程的重要位置。
