2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（70）

考研英语长难句是让很多考生头疼的一大难题，对于长难句的结构分析、主旨把握及语义提炼想到一步位并不容易，这需要大家熟练掌握语法的同时，平时多练习和总结才行。下面新东方在线就和大家一起通过实例练习及解析来一步步提升长难句的解读能力。

2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（70）

　　1. People are absorbed into "a culture ofconsumption" launched by the 19th-centurydepartment stores that offered "vast arrays ofgoods in an elegant atmosphere."

　　【分析】复合句。句子主干为 People are absorbed into"a culture of consumption"。launched by...作后置定语，修饰 a culture of consumption，其中包含 that 引导的定语从句，修饰限制 department stores。

　　【译文】人们沉迷于一种由19世纪的百货商店所掀起的“消费文化”中。这些商店“在优雅的购物环境中提供琳琅满目的商品。”

　　【点拨】array 作动词时，意为“部署”或“穿着”。作名词时，意为“展示，陈列”，“大堆;大量”或“数组，陈列”等。vast array of“大量的;各种各样的”。

　　【临摹】纽约有一系列娱乐节目可供选择，数量之多令人惊叹。

　　2. "Instead of intimate shops catering to a knowledgeable elite," these were stores "anyonecould enter, regardless of class or background."

　　【分析】复合句。句子主干为 these were stores。介词结构 Instead of...作状语，其中 catering to...作的后置定语;anyone could...又是省略引导词的定语从句修饰 stores。

　　【译文】与那些只满足有品位的精英人士需求的精品店铺不同，这些商店无论阶层背景，人人皆可踏足期间。

　　【点拨】1)intimate 常用意为“亲密的，密切的”，本句中意为“精致的，优雅的”。此外，intimate 还可以用作名词，意为“至交，密友”;作动词意为“透漏;示意”。2)cater to“迎合;供应伙食”。

　　3. Writing for the National Forum, GregoryRodriguez reports that today's immigration isneither at unprecedented level nor resistant toassimilation.

　　【分析】复合句。句子主干为 Gregory Rodriguez reportsthat...，that 引导宾语从句。Writing for 作谓语动词reports 的伴随状语。宾语从句中使用了 neither...nor...结构。

　　【译文】格瑞·罗德里格兹在给“国家移民论坛”写的报告中提到，如今的移民既没有达到一个空前的水平，也没有表现出对这种同化的抵制。

　　4. The 1990 Census revealed that "a majority of immigrants from each of the fifteen mostcommon countries of origin spoke English 'Well' or 'very well' after ten years of residence."

　　【分析】复合句。句子主干为 The 1990 Census revealed that..., that 引导宾语从句。宾语从句主语为 amajority of immigrants; from each of the fifteen most common countries of origin 是其后置定语;spoke 是谓语;English 是宾语;'Well' or 'very well' 是状语;after ten years of residence 为时间状语。

　　【译文】1990年的人口普查显示来自十五个主要移出国的大多数移民经过十年定居以后能‘较好’或‘很好’地使用英语。
