2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（97）

　　1. Even demographics are working against the middle-class family, as the odds of having a weak elderly parent —and all the attendant need for physical and financial assistance —have jumped eightfold in just one generation.

　　【分析】复合句。主句主干为demographics are working against the middle-class family。as 引导原因状语从句，其主干为the odds have jumped eightfold;破折号之间的部分起补充说明的作用。

　　【译文】甚至连人口统计数据都对中产阶级家庭不利，因为这些家庭中出现一个年老体弱的父亲或母亲一以及随之而来的体力和经济援助上的需要——的几率在一代人的时间里增加了八倍。

　　【点拨】odds意为“成败的几率或可能;几率;差别”。

　　2. From the middle-class family perspective, much of this, understandably, looks far less like an opportunity to exercise more financial responsibility, and a good deal more like a frightening acceleration of the wholesale shift of financial risk onto their already overburdened shoulders.

　　【分析】简单句。本句虽是简单句，但修饰成分较多。句子主干是 much of this looks less like an opportunity and more like a frightening acceleration。不定式结构to exercise... responsibility 作定语修饰 opportunity;介词短语of the wholesale...修饰 acceleration。

　　【译文】可以理解，从中产阶级家庭的角度来看,上述现象根本不像是一个行使更多经济职责的机会，而更像是将经济风险大规模转移到他们已经不堪重负的肩膀上的加速进程。

　　【点拨】perspective为名词，意思较多，如“远景，全景;观点;前途”，本句中意为“观点”。

　　3. Just as bosses and boards have finally sorted out their wont accounting and compliance troubles, and improved their feeble corporation governance, a new problem threatens to earn them-especially in America-the sort of nasty headlines that inevitably lead to heads rolling in the executive suite:data insecurity.

　　【分析】复合句。主句主干为a new problem threatens to earn them the sort of nasty headlines。其后that引导定语从句修饰 headlines; data insecurity 是 a new problem 的同位语。句首as引导时间状语从句，该从句包含两个并列的谓语结构 have sorted out... and improved...。

　　【译文】正当老板和董事长终于解决了最糟糕的财务和规章问题并加强其薄弱的公司管理之后，一个新的问题—数提不安全—又威胁到他们,使他们出现在令人厌恶的头版头条新闻中(尤其在美国),进而不可避免的导致管理层们走马换任。

　　【点拨】sort作名词是意为“种类，类型”，本句中，该词作动作，意为“分类，整理;使明确”。

　　4. Left, until now, to odd, low-level IT staff to put right, and seen as a concern only of data-rich industries such as banking, telecoms and air travel, information protection is now high on the boss's agenda in businesses of every variety.

　　【分析】简单句。句子主〒为information protection is high on the boss's agenda。本句的难点在于对句首两个过去分词短语的理解，二者均作句首状语。介词短语 of data-rich...air travel作concern的后置定语。

　　【译文】在这之前,信息保护通常还只是临时的、低层次的值息技术员的工作,并且只被诸如银行、电信、航空公司等数据量大的行业重视，可现在这个问题被放在了各行各业老板的议亊日程的重要位置。
