2016考研英语阅读长难句实例分析（98）

　　1 Several massive leakages of customer and employee data this year-from organizations as diverse as Time Warner, the American defense contractor Science Applications International Corp and even the University of California, Berkeley-have left managers hurriedly peering into their intricate IT systems and business processes in search of potential vulnerabilities.

　　【分析】简单句。本句显得较复杂，主要是由于列举成分较多,破折号之间的部分全是列举,如果去掉,句子结构则非常明显。主干为 leakages have left managers peering into IT systems and business processes,注意其中的 leave sb. doing 结构。

　　【译文】今年几起严重的客户和雇员资料泄漏亊件发生在各种各样的机构里,包括时代华纳公司、美国防卫项目承包商科技应用国际公司，甚至加利福尼亚大学伯克利分校。这些事件使得管理者们匆忙仔细检查他们复杂的信息系统和业务流程以寻可能存在的安全隐患。

　　【点拨】leakage意为“泄露，渗漏”，其动词时leak。

　　2. Surely it should be obvious to the dimmest executive that trust, that most valuable of economic assets,is easily destroyed and hugely expensive to restore-and that few things are more likely to destroy trust than a company letting sensitive personal data get into the wrong hands.

　　【分析】复合句。主句主干为it should be obvious that …and that…。it为形式主语，真正的主语是两个并列的that引导的主语从句。在第一个主语从句中，trust 是主语,that most...assets是其同位语。破折号后的主语从句包含比较结构,其中分词短语letting…作定语修饰a company。

　　【译文】最迟钝的管理者也应该明白：信任作为经济资产中最有价值的部分是很容易被摧毀的,而且修复起来代价髙昂,而没有什么比企业让个人机密数据落入别有用心之手更容易摧毁信任的了。

　　3. Meanwhile, the theft of information about some 40 million credit-card accounts in America disclosed on June 17th, overshadowed a hugely important decision a day earlier by America's Federal Trade Commission (FTC) that puts corporate America on notice that regulators will act if firms fail to provide adequate data security.

　　【分析】多重复合句。该句主干是the theft of information overshadowed a decision。其中介词结构 about…in America和过去分词结构disclosed on June 17th都为 the theft of information 的定语。 a day earlier...(FTC) 作状语,其后的that引导定语从句修饰decision;notice后that引导的从句作其同位语，该从句中包含if引导的条件状语从句。

　　【译文】同时，六月十七日曝光的盗取美国4.000万信用卡账号信息的事件也给一天前美国联邦商业委员会做出的重要决定蒙上了阴影，该决定向美国商界发出公告，如果企业不能充分保障数据安全，执法者将采取行动。

　　【点拨】put sb. on notice意为“使某人注意，给某人以警告”。

　　4. Even if a job's starting salary seems too small to satisfy an emerging adult's need for rapid content, the transition from school to work can be less of a setback if the start-up adult is ready for the move.

　　【分析】复合句。even if引导让步状语从句;主句主干为 the transition can be less of a setback,其中包含一个if引导的条件状语从句。

　　【译文】即使工作的起薪看起来很低，难以满足即将成年的孩子的快速自我满足的需求，但是如果这个准成年人已经做好了准备，那么他在从学校向职场的转变中所遭遇的挫折也许会少些。

　　【点拨】content oneself with“使自己满足于...”。
