2016考研双语新闻阅读：电梯“吃人”

　　最近，电梯事故频繁发生，仅近三天就发生了4起电梯“吃人”事件，带来了惨重的损失。由此，电梯安全这个话题，再次被推到了大众舆论的风口浪尖。

　　The safety of taking elevators or escalators has become a hot online topic.

　　This comes as a series of elevator and escalator accidents have raised public concern in recent days.

　　7月26日，湖北荆州商场内，一位母亲被卷入电梯身亡，在生命最后一刻，奋力托举儿子，最终孩子平安无事。

　　而就在第二天，江苏无锡的一家工厂，又有一位女工被卡在厂房电梯的升降平台缝隙中，最终不幸遇难。

　　同一天，广西梧州的一家商场内，一位一岁幼童的左臂被卷入扶梯，严重受伤。

　　7月28日，河南信阳一家酒店内，一名14岁少年不幸坠入电梯井道而身亡，另有一人重伤。后来官方调查报告显示，事故原因是因为几位少年在电梯内打斗所致。

　　这些电梯事故造成了严重的后果，为了避免这样的悲剧再次发生，必须吸取血的教训，采取防范措施。下面就是乘坐电梯时需要注意的安全事项。

　　Those accidents have all caused worries about the safety of China's elevators and escalators.

　　Here are some safety tips for taking elevators or escalators.

　　乘坐升降电梯时……

　　If you're taking an elevator:

　　1. 看护好儿童 特别是在进出电梯时

　　2. 电梯内不乱按按钮

　　3. 不要用身体去阻挡电梯门

　　4. 电梯若发出超载警告，马上退出，等待下一趟。

　　1. Avoid using your body to prevent the elevator door from shutting.

　　2. Take care of your children, especially when they're entering or leaving the elevator.

　　3. Never randomly press the buttons inside.

　　4. If the elevator sends a "overloaded" message, exit it and wait for next one patiently.

　　出现了事故怎么办?

　　What should you do if there's an accident?

　　If the elevator begins falling, press all the buttons for all floors at once, so that the elevator may stop falling in a short time.

　　Hold the handrail inside tight, if it's available, so as to keep yourself from falling over.

　　Keep your head and back close to the wall to protect your backbone.

　　Bend your knees to avoid injuries brought by momentum.

　　乘坐电扶梯时……

　　If you're taking an escalator:

　　Hold onto the handrail and stand firmly on the right. Do not stick your head out.

　　Never take trolleys or strollers on an escalator.

　　Take care of your children; don't let them frolic on the autowalk.

　　Never sit on an escalator's stairs.

　　Never stand on the edge, stand within the yellow safety line.

　　Never go against the escalator's direction. Do not climb or lean on the handrail.

　　Beware if you're wearing long dresses since they could easily get stuck in the gap, causing serious accidents.

　　出现了事故怎么办?

　　What should you do if there's an accident?

　　1. 切记在第一时间按下红色紧急停止按钮，让扶梯在数秒内自动停下。

　　2. 若无法按下紧停按钮，紧抓住电梯扶手，双脚悬空，让人随着手扶电梯护栏移动，不会摔倒，但这种方法只适用于电梯上人不太多的情况。

　　3. 若遇到拥挤伤害事件，保护好头部和颈椎，身体屈曲就地保护。

　　4. 若扶梯倒行，紧抓扶手，压低身姿保持稳定。

　　Press the emergency stop button immediately to make the escalator stop in a few seconds.

　　If there are not many people on the escalator, and you can't press the button, hold the handrail with your hands and make your feet suspend in mid-air, so as to move alongside the handrail and not fall over.

　　there are a lot of people on the escalator, the most important thing is to protect your head and neck.

　　If the escalator suddenly changes direction, hold the handrail firmly and lower your body to keep stable.
