2016考研双语新闻阅读："推特"裁员8% 336人失业

　　In Jack Dorsey's first major action as CEO, Twitterhas laid off 8% of its employees.

　　Jack Dorsey担任twitter首席运营官的的一项重大举措就是裁员8%。

　　Twitter said it is cutting 336 staff members, mostlyfrom the product and engineering teams, in order tofocus on the company's top product priorities andbecome more efficient.

　　Twitter表示正在裁减336名员工，大部分来自产品和工程组，以便公司专注于优先顶级产品，运转更加高效。

　　In an email to employees with the subject line "amore focused Twitter," Dorsey said the layoffs will be difficult, but they will "put our company ona stronger path to grow."

　　在一封为名“更专注的Twitter”的邮件里，Dorsey说，裁员很困难，但是他们会把我们的公司引向一条更加快速成长之路。

　　"This isn't easy. But it is right," Dorsey said. "The world needs a strong Twitter, and this isanother step to get there."

　　“这很难，但是是正确的”，Dorsey说，“世界需要强大的Twitter，这是达到目标的一步”。

　　Though Twitter's (TWTR, Tech30) engineering group will receive the brunt of the cuts, Dorseyargued that cutting positions will make the team "nimbler" -- while still remaining Twitter'slargest group of employees.

　　尽管Twitter工程组将会接受裁员的冲击，Dorsey表示，裁减掉的职位将会使得Twitter更加“敏捷”，但是这仍将是Twitter最大的组。

　　Dorsey did not say exactly what the leaner company's new priorities will be, but he mentionedthat the firm's executive team is working on a "streamlined roadmap" for Twitter, Vine andPeriscope that will focus on "the experiences which will have the greatest impact."

　　Dorsey并没有明确表示精简后的公司的明确目标是什么，但是他提到，公司的行政组正在研究twitter，Vine和Periscope的“流线型路线图”，这将会使得他们专注于具有重大影响的体验。

　　As an example of those high-impact experiences, Dorsey pointed to Twitter's new newsfeed-like "Moments" feature. He called Moments "a great beginning, and a bold peek into the futureof how people will see what's going on in the world."

　　作为这些高影响体验的代表之一，Dorsey提到了Twitter的全新新闻时刻。他把这一时刻称为一个伟大的开端，这是人们怎么样看待未来世界的一种大胆窥视。

　　Dorsey, who was named CEO a week ago, acknowledged that the cuts would hurt morale andwill be difficult to swallow. But he said the outgoing employees will be compensated well.

　　Dorsey一周前被任命为首席运营官，他知道裁员会影响士气，而且很难被接受。但是他说那些开朗的员工会获得很好的抚慰金。

　　"We are doing this with the utmost respect for each and every person," the new CEO wrote. "Twitter will go to great lengths to take care of each individual by providing generous exitpackages and help finding a new job."
