　　The China National Tourism Administration releasedon Sunday the revised draft on the construction ofand sanitary standards for toilets in tourist areasand expects the majority of such facilities to meetthe general standard by the end of the year.

　　上周日，中国国家旅游局发布了风景区厕所设施卫生标准修正案，预计大多数公厕将在今年年底达到通用标准。

　　Differing from the star-rated evaluation system, therevised draft is more practical and covers more areasoutside of scenic spots, including transportationhubs, restaurants, entertainment zones andshopping malls.

　　与星级评估体系不同，修正案更切合实际，并且涵盖景区附近包括交通枢纽、休闲娱乐和购物中心等更广泛的区域。

　　In addition to the general requirements required for A-certification, the minimum level,restroom facilities would need to meet broader criteria for the highest rating, AAA, such asproviding toilet facilities that broadcast music as well as additional services such as wheelchairrentals.

　　除了最低水准A级认证的常规要求，厕所设施还需满足最高评级——3A级的更高标准，比如提供能播放音乐的厕所设备，以及轮椅租赁等额外服务。

　　Li Shihong, deputy director of the administration, said properly managed restrooms arecrucial to tourism development, especially when many places in China are trying to promote anentire city, rather than just scenic spots, as a tourism attraction.

　　国家旅游局副局长李世宏表示，厕所管理得当对旅游业的发展是至关重要的，尤其是当前的中国，许多地区正在努力促进整个城市旅游业的发展，而不仅仅只局限在某些景点。

　　"We will collect reviews and complaints from tourists, and those toilets that fail to provideproper service will be put on a tourism toilet blacklist," said Li.

　　他还补充说道：“我们将收集游客的评价和投诉，那些未能提供适当服务的公厕将被列入旅游厕所黑名单。”

　　Other measures will also be taken to make sure that tourists and other travelers won't frownwhen answering nature's call in China. For example, Internet technology such as mobileapplications will be available to help tourists find nearby toilets.

　　此外，景区还将采取一些其它措施，以确保游客和路人不再为上厕所的事发愁。例如，一些互联网技术比如手机APP等，都将会帮助人们找到最近的厕所。

　　China started a three-year campaign in January last year that aims to build 33,000 restroomsacross the nation by 2017 and renovate 24,000 facilities.

　　去年1月，中国启动了为期三年的旅游厕所建设管理大行动，到2017年时，将实现全国新建厕所3.3万座，改造2.4万座。

　　Restroom construction has long been neglected in China. Overseas tourists in China find itchallenging to use public restrooms that feature unfamiliar squat toilets, long lines and anabsence of toilet paper.

　　在中国，厕所建设长期以来都未引起重视。到中国来的外国游客都反映上厕所颇具挑战：厕所无马桶、排长队、不提供手纸等等。

　　Li Jinzao, head of the administration, said China has upgraded its toilets considerably. Now,even in remote rural areas, tourists can avoid the embarrassment of using pit toilets. "However, we have to admit that, compared with other countries such as Japan, we still have alot of work to do," said Li.

　　国家旅游局局长李金早表示，中国的厕所设施已经得到了大幅的提升。现在，即使是在偏远的农村地区，游客也能避免蹲茅坑的尴尬。他说，“但是我们也要承认，与其它国家如日本相比，我们仍需付出大量的努力才行。”
