　　Directions:

　　You have just come back from Canada and found a music CD in your luggage that you forgot to return to Bob, your landlord there. Write him a letter to

　　1) make an apology, and

　　2) suggest a solution.

　　You should write about 100 words. Do not sign your own name at the end of the letter. Use “Li Ming” instead. Do not write the address.

　　Dear Bob,

　　I have returned home from Canada now and I would like to extend my sincere thanks for the warm reception in Canada. It has been one of my best vacations ever!

　　Back at home, however, I am surprised to find that I mistakenly brought one of your CD home within my luggage, the one which you lent me in summer vacation when I was preparing for a music course test. I am really sorry for this and I hope no bother has been caused because of my careless. I sent this mail to let you know that I have posted it to you this morning and I was told that you may get the CD on July 1st.

　　I apologize again for my carelessness, and wish to meet you again soon!

　　(3)范文分析

　　清晰的三段式结构，理由合情合理，致歉言辞恳切。首段感谢对方的招待，简单介绍自己从加拿大回到了家;第二段说明写信的原因，表达歉意，并提出了解决办法;尾段再次道歉恳求对方的谅解。

　　亲爱的鲍伯：

　　我现在已从加拿大回到了家，真心地感谢你在加拿大对我的帮助，这是我最快乐的假期之一。

　　回到家后，我意外地发现，我错把你的一张CD放进了行李箱带了回来。这张CD是暑假时你借给我准备音乐考试用的。对此我表示非常抱歉，并希望我的粗心没有给你带来什么麻烦。我写这封信想告知你，今早我已经将CD邮递出去了，你很有可能在6月1日收到它。

　　再次由于我的疏忽向你道歉，并希望很快能再见到你!

　　(二)辞职信

　　1、常用表达句

　　(1)首段：说明写作目的(提出辞职)

　　① With regret, I submit this letter of resignation.

　　我十分遗憾向您递上这封辞呈。

　　② I am writing to inform you about my decision to resign from my current position.

　　致函告知您我决定辞去目前的工作。

　　③ I feel very sorry for having to give up my position as...

　　我十分遗憾不得不辞去我现在……的工作。

　　(2)中间段：说明原因，表示遗憾或感谢

　　① I find it is inappropriate for me to take the position as... for the following reasons.

　　我觉得我不适合……的职位，主要有以下几个原因。

　　② I have decided to further my education in pursuit of (degree)...

　　我决定继续学业，攻读……学位。

　　③ I hereby confirm in writing my resignation from...because of family reasons.

　　由于家庭原因，我特此辞去……的职位。

　　④ I have expected the job to be interesting and challenging, which turns out to be the opposite.

　　我原本期望这份工作有趣而且有挑战性，但却证实恰好相反。
